  1. I think it's hilarious because they could not possibly find a better way to make it apparent how redundant everything you do in RuneScape is. Imagine getting 99 mining in something like that, LOL. Also loling at all the kids that are excited for it on the forums. Really though, they get monster props for making that ridiculous suit and putting effort into the 1st. And where'd they get Steve Jobs?
  2. When you guys say it should be easier to navigate to the TRR section, what do you mean? Is there any specific way that you think it should be changed?I'd also like to remind people of the TRR.ElderSouls.com link redirect that takes you to it automatically.
  3. I hadn't heard of it either in all honesty.
  4. Why would trees be any glitchier than the building climbing?
  5. Good catch, I didn't notice that. I've re-added it.
  6. Last night before I went to bed I was beating you by 2 reputation. Then you had a surge of like 10 in a matter of hours. Conspiracy? I'm bringing this to Captain Falcon.

The fact you keep track of this just shows you why I"m ahead.

Nah, I just happened to see it when I was going to leave an unrelated comment. I swear. ._.'

  7. That's a really interesting play-through, might have to try something similar. Here are a few ways you can get money... [*]Treasure Hunting: There are several chests/treasure locations located throughout the world that don't necessarily involve any combat. For example, North-East of Markarth there's a sunken row-boat that contains like 1000+ in various gems. It's pretty difficult to find since it's in-between two high cliffs. [*]Mining: Gloombound mine, if you weren't already aware. You can mine 45-50 ebony ore, which is extremely profitable. You can then smith this into Daedric if you have the smithing level, which increases profits even more. Downside is that you can only mine it once every few weeks. [*]Thievery: self explanatory. [*]Odd Jobs: People like the Smith at the entrance to Whiterun will offer jobs for you to do. Honestly, these are generally not worth your time, but if you're interested in role-playing through them they seem like something your character would go for. The perk you're referring to is "Merchant." It doesn't allow you to sell stolen items to every merchants, though there is a perk for that - fence (you must first invest in the merchant before they'll buy stolen items). Merchant essentially turns every merchant into a general store, so you don't have to run around to different places to sell different types of things. I'm pretty sure you're also able to BUY any type of item from all stores as well. This is really handy for alchemy and allows you to buy rare things that aren't supposed to be sold.
  8. Oh, yes - it's really the exact same site. Clicking "Active Topics" or anything like that will bring up results from either forum. TRR's "Index" is really just a bunch of hidden forum categories displayed via URL. For example, TRR's index: "http://eldersouls.com/index.php?c=49,53,54,84" 49 refers to the Joining category I believe. Anything posted on TRR's boards will display under the "Massively Multiplayer" forum in the main ElderSouls index, since it hosts the "RuneScape" sub-forum that hides all of TRR's forums. It sounds more complex than it is.
  9. Wait, what were you wondering specifically? I don't know if I mentioned it in the original post, but TRR.ElderSouls.com links to TRR's index via redirect. At some point I may make one that's a generic RuneScape.eldersouls.com, but as of now the TRR one exists.
  10. Just thought I'd make a poll. I'm continuously looking ways to improve things for you guys since I know some of you miss features that existed on the old site. If you have any complaints or suggestions, now would be a good time to say them.
  11. A mountain cottage on a ski hill privately owned by your family? Sounds pretty badass.
  12. The Movie =/= the lore, or the books. Blexun is referencing the lore.Movies are notoriously bad for condensing/eliminating plot elements from stories.
  13. I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but disagree on a few points: [*]The magic systems organization in Oblivion wasn't very good, and this is coming from someone who always bases his character off of it. There was a huge amount of overlap between the different magic classes. Mysticism vs. Illusion? It was specifically confusing how they were split up and organized, I think Skyrim's system of moving some of the more redundant spells into the same school was a good move. I didn't feel like they elimintated tons of them so much as they consolidated them. With that said, magic is far, far too weak in Skyrim when compared to something like melee. [*]Yes, Skyrim could still use more variety in finishing moves. However, compared to the old games of Morrowind/Oblivion, the combat system is hundreds of times better with variety. Oblivion/Morrowind didn't have ANY different moves or animations, much less finishing moves. I do miss the relatively complex leveling system of Oblivion, even if it was admittedly too confusing for most players. There's a happy medium to be had. If you invested your entire game around character development in Oblivion with efficient leveling, you could have a character damn near maxed in every attribute at level 15. I think it's important to note just how much more realistic the environment is in Skyrim, even looking past the graphics. Play Skyrim for a few hours, and then put in Oblivion; everything will look hilariously cartoonish and fake. Yes, Skyrim is much newer, but the improved graphics do add a great deal to the immersive aspect of the game, even if it was at the loss of some options.

  15. I could literally split this into three different LOTR threads. Bravo, gentlmen.
  16. I would like to welcome you into our clan; congratulations on being accepted into the RuneScape Rebelz! ____________ I. What's Required of You ____________ 1. Forum Activity As a member of TRR, it is your responsibility to periodically check up on the clan forums. This is important for many reasons, the least of which is so you can stay updated on clan news and important announcements. Many members choose to bookmark the forums - Forum Index - and simply check up on them quickly before or after logging into RuneScape. Posting on the forums is a necessary part of becoming involved with our clans community, and promotions are often based on how active clan members are on the forums. ____________ 2. In-Game Communication It might seem silly, I know; but you would be amazed at how many people join and then complain that they didn't ever know when an event was taking place. To prevent that and to get to know other members of the clan, staying active in our in-game friends AND clan chat is a must. Our clan chat is 'The Rebelz', and members are expected to be in it whenever they're on RuneScape. You are allowed to leave the chat in certain situations (e.g. checking up on a merchant chat, moving chats for an event, etc), but generally you should be in the clan chat while on RuneScape. ____________ 3. Other Tips Other great communication tools that can help your chances at a promotion greatly include IRC and Ventrilo. For information on clan channels, please click the 'Communication' drop-down menu in the news header. You can learn more about using IRC specifically in our guide. ____________ Quick InformationClan Chat: The RebelzIRC Channel: #Rebelz It's great to see you in TRR, we all look forward to getting to know you!
  17. That's why he had trouble at the end, though. I believe that the ring's effect on the bearer increased over time, making the long journey more dangerous. Hence Smeagle/Gollum's change.
  18. I had expected everyone to post "Run"... That's what most people, including myself, seemed to hear the first time they saw the movie. There's a huge online backlash of the proud LOTR nerds who read the books flipping out when someone makes the error. When you see a reference to it, people say "run" 99% of the time. I actually had no idea it was fly until I read about it a few years after the movie was released.
  19. First of all, let me welcome you to the site. It's been nice having quite a few new users recently. :smile:It is true that the games have had progressively fewer options, specifically due to dialogue. In older TES games, there was no (or little) voice acting apart from the main questlines. This let Bethesda add millions of text/dialogue options that they'd never be able to afford to voice. With a game like Skyrim, where voice actors are even included for minor characters - the costs quickly become to great and you're left with fewer dialogue options. This impacts the story indirectly.I agree that the quests in Skyrim are generally much shorter than Oblivion's, and I know we have a thread on that specific subject here somewhere. Some questlines, specifically the Champion's Guild, are way to reliant on "retrieve quests" as you said... However, Oblivion had tons and tons of quests like that too.I give Bethesda credit for not doing the copy-paste methods used in previous games... Remember how every dungeon in Oblivion was exactly the same? Every location in Skyrim is custom, and that also took a great deal of resources. I think it was a decent trade-off since exploration in Oblivion was much more redundant. The menu didn't really bother me because the interface is not really meant to be integrated into the game; a menu is for the player essentially. When reading books, or things actually in the environment, the text is quite well done in my opinion. I agree on the loading screen though, it's quite ugly and I always get the same 2-3 renders....
  20. Just thought I'd make a poll to see which version you would rather have. Please only vote if you know what I'm talking about and have experienced the old version. For those unaware, you used to be able to up-vote or down-vote a post, so users could get either negative or positive reputation. As with the current system, you are only able to recieve "Likes" which correspond to positive reputation.I'd just like to point out that I do think the prominent "Like" button has led to the system being used far more. Though it does have issues in flexibility where the other doesn't.
  21. What did Gandalf say when he fell into the abyss? Poll above. Run or fly? This is more of a "what you thought he said" as opposed to what he actually said.
  22. Wait, what? Who thought you were a bot?
  23. Huygens w/ Avatar petition. Current signees: Traaginen and Captain Falcon

I concur. This is one of the greatest issues of our generation. Your signatures will go far in finding an avatar for this poor soul.

  24. I remember that I got Infamous and Wipeout HD (which I never played except to show off my HD TV to guests) from that whole fiasco. My friend that downloaded Dead Nation had a similar take as you - fun but "eh".
