  1. Helium, or HE, is actually lost to the atmosphere whenever you use it. Yes, that means whenever you have balloons at a party you're squandering one of the most precious non-renewable resources on the planet; an entire element that has completely unique properties. It might be gone in 25-30 years at the current rate, meaning only one generation of humans could ruin it for the entire planet for all time because they lol when things float away. Think about all of the possible future technology you're eliminating by taking an entire element out of the equation. Shame on you, random citizens.http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/why-the-world-is-running-out-of-helium-2059357.html
  2. 2 active threads? Don't tell me there's nothing to post on because there has been 4-5 new threads that have had like 1 reply in the last couple days, and people can always just make there own. I see up to eight members online just staring at the index. o.O
  3. Was that picture taken with the hubble space telescope?
  4. Following the tire fire that was Windows Vista, Windows 7 redeemed Microsoft in the eyes of many PC users and enthusiasts. Now that Windows 8 has been released to the public, how is it stacking up? Here are some summaries of reviews and initial feedback! Tech Radar - 4.5/5The following excerpts are taken from the Tech Radar review. You can read the full review here.Pros [*]On the right hardware, it's sleek, fast and fun [*]Huge security improvements [*]Better battery life, faster boot [*]Great for touch Cons [*]Start menu gone [*]Can't boot to the desktop [*]You'll want a touchscreen/trackpad gestures/Touch Mouse [*]Modern UI will annoy some [*]Some older CPUs won't run it CNET - 4/5 ExcellentThe following excerpts are taken from the CNET review. You can read the full review here. The Good embraces the future wholeheartedly. Log-in and boot times are fast, the apps look gorgeous, and the Sync feature brings seamless transition between devices. The Bad The learning curve is steep and in-app navigation isn't obvious. There are just too many known unknowns here. The Bottom Line Microsoft makes an aggressive, forward-thinking, and bold statement for the future of PCs with Windows 8, and vast security and speed improvements more than justify the $40 upgrade price. PC WorldThe following excerpts are taken from the PC World review. You can read the full review here. CNNThe following excerpts are taken from the CNN review. You can read the full review here.Pros ouch and trackpad gestures are intuitive and make navigating the Windows 8 environment a breeze. Snapping apps is useful for multitasking. Desktop gets its own improved tools like Task Manager and File History. Windows 8 is pushing touch and all sorts of new hardware experiences, which is good for consumers. Good price for online upgrades. Cons Windows Store is still relatively low on apps. Ambiguity between x86 and Windows Store apps in Microsoft messaging and when pinned on Start Screen. Windows 8 will take effort to get used to, and not all users want to learn a new operating system and interface. Microsoft risks alienating legacy users. Several feature details still need polish. The new start-up screen in Windows 8. Tell Me What to Think! So what does all of this mean? Initial feedback on Windows 8 has been positive, but most reviews do mention that there is a learning curve to the new layout and tablet interface. If you're running a Windows operating system that was purchased prior to June 2nd, 2012, you are able to purchase a downloadable upgrade for $40.00. Those of you who purchased a new laptop or PC with Windows 7 after June 2nd are eligible to purchase a reduced price upgrade option for $15.00.As for me, I'm due for a new laptop or PC so I doubt I'll be upgrading my current system. However, it's still only $40.00 and I would strongly consider the upgrade if I expected more than a year or so out of my laptop. Click here to view the article

  6. From what I remember neither really add anything to the main story at all, it's just for those who are interested in continuing the saga of Ezio's life. I wasn't a very big fan of Revelations, but Brotherhood was okay; though a lot of people say the opposite. Everyone agrees that both of them are only good If you're interested in Ezio, though. I'd personally buy them just because I'm an AC fan and they're both $20 or less at this point.

    Master Assassin Anarchy

The spammers really like this drawing for some reason.
  8. You don't think a game in which you're a plantation owner towing around an african american slave is inherently racist?
  9. Sounds like Skyrim except based on the Werewolf-esque stuff. Could be interesting if you're into that sort of thing, but even in Skyrim I more or less ignore the Vampire/Werewolf options and quests. First Person... Slasher? Honestly, I'd like to see something more multiplayer oriented like this that's not just a PC MMO. Something on the consoles would be interesting just to see what a decent developer could come up with to overcome some of the issues with them. This is impossible to do without being racist / exploiting severe racism and will never happen. Oh, and this is already a movie - Ride with the Devil. I just watched it a week or two ago and lol'd. Heavy Rain.
  10. X-Play logo. Earlier today, G4 released an official statement announcing that it will be ending all remaining gaming-related programming with the conclusion of 2012. Remaining shows such as X-Play and Attack of the Show are among those canceled. The official statement posted on G4's site... The announcement is following the notable departures of hosts such as Adam Sessler (X-Play) and Kevin Pereira (Attack of the Show), which hinted at the impending changes. This marks the end of the channel pretending to focus on technology and video gaming. The recent era of G4 featured nothing other than 22-hour marathons of Ninja Warrior, Cops, or Star Trek inbetween episodes of X-Play and Attack of the Show. Rumors suggest that the channel's new rebranding will result in "Esquire" or "GQ" esque content; NBC Universal was previously reported to be in the process of converting it to a lifestyle network focused on the modern male. 12. Just what you've been waiting for, I'm sure. AC: III Breaks Preorder RecordsWe're now under a week away from the much anticipated release of Assassin's Creed III, which ships out on October 30, 2012. In an announcement building hype for the upcoming title, Ubisoft announced that the game has broken its internal record for the most preorders, passing up the previous record holder, Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Some have suggested the large number of preorders concides with the release of the Wii U on November 18th; Assassin's Creed III will be one of the premier games available on the platform for its release. Those of you who have yet to pre-order can do so on Amazon, which offers some exlusive offers for AC:III pre-orders. Alongside the boasting of AC III's preorders, Ubisoft also announced that to date, the entire Assassin's Creed series has sold upwards of 40 million copies worldwide. Not to shabby, eh? Official Assassin's Creed Clothing LineMusterbrand has released an official line of Assassin's III clothing. The most expensive item (photographed to the right) retails for $260. Those interested in acquiring some official AC gear for themselves will be able to do so starting next week with the release of AC: III. The same company also sells clothing based on games such as Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Hitman, and the Metal Gear Solid franchises. A screenshot leaked featuring gameplay of AC: III. As for me, I'm more excited about the gameplay screenshots than the over-priced, $260 hipster cardigans. Click here to view the article

  14. I'm surprised to see Ted mentioned so much. I'm pretty confident I won't ever put it on a BoAT list or anything, but it must be pretty funny to be getting so much attention. Boo. Faith restored.
  15. Haven't seen most of the movies mentioned. I guess that's what makes them cult classics, though. 300 is way too popular/mainstream to be a cult classic. It was okay, but waaay overhyped imo. Napoleon Dynamite, yeah, wasn't a big fan. Only funny part was when the farmer shoots the cow in front of the school bus. Edward Scissorhands I watched, turned off the TV, and just sat there wondering what to think about it. It was a good movie, but holy damn was it weird. Even for Tim Burton.
  16. http://www.ibtimes.c...sold-online.htmA male went for $3,000 in similar auction. Also, kissing is not allowed per the rules.Amusing comment:
  17. Sugar Sugar by The Archies.
  18. An absence on the forums. A refusal to respond to my inane and rambling PMs and profile comments. A cryptic emo message left in place of a previously illustrious About Me. u mad bro?

  19. Thoughts on new home page layout? Long side bar good/bad idea?

    1. Jake

      Jake

I don't know why, but I like it. It makes everything fit much more snugly.

  20. I'll probably do a write-in ballot for myself.
  21. It's not a bug, so there's a very, very small chance of this ever being changed. You're only supposed to be married once.
