  1. Did you try the following command? setstage MQ301 10
  2. Is the follower taking out their weapon and running in combat mode? If so, it doesn't sound that unusual. Followers behave oddly in some scenarios and there's not much to be done about it unless you want to try out overhaul mods. Maybe they're going after a different deer.
  3. Lydia is fine to use. You won't have a housecarl in your Whiterun house anymore, though (not that this makes any difference).
  4. Almost certainly. Open up Mod Organizer and then disable that mod (tutorial here). After that, try to run Skyrim again. If everything works, that mod was the issue. If the game still has trouble, go back into Mod Organizer and disable ALL of the mods you've installed. Run Skyrim again. If it works, a mod was the problem - but you don't know which one. You're going to have to re-enable them one at a time (while testing Skyrim) to find the culprit. If Skyrim doesn't work even when all of your mods are disabled, open up Steam and click your Library tab. Right click Skyrim, then hit Properties. On the menu that pops up, hit the Local Files Tab and then click Verify Integrity Of Game Cache... Let me know if it works out.
  5. If you're talking about the Dwemer puzzle door, it permanently closes if you choose to leave the outpost before picking up the Oghma Infinium. Open the console (assuming you have the PC version) and enter the following command. setstage DA04 55That should bypass the "bring the blood" quest objective and your new journal entry will tell you to take the Oghma Infinium. If it doesn't work and you just want to advance the quest, try the next command. setstage DA04 100If the Oghma Infinium isn't added after the above, enter the following. player.additem 0001A332 1
  6. You only have to complete "The Way of the Voice" (a part of the main quest-line you've already completed) to go to Solstheim. After you complete that quest, cultists will randomly appear and attack you. If you search them, you find "Cultists Orders." Reading those orders are what will launch the quest and direct you to the Windhelm docks.
  7. Nope, you need a PC to use mods.
  8. You can't transfer items between different save files or different characters.
  9. I know that there's a chest in Dawnstar that spawns with loot next to a Khajiit merchant -- is that what you're referring to? The chest should respawn its contents if you wait for 48 hours (you can automatically wait for predetermined sets of time if you're unaware). It shouldn't matter if any of the NPCs are dead or not.
  10. The Thalmor Embassy is a little bit west of Solitude. You can see it on the map here. However, note that you should not try to enter the embassy until you've completed the quest Diplomatic Immunity (which is part of the main quest-line); doing so before may cause some bugs to appear when you do start that quest. If you want to obtain a Staff of Fireballs, you can get it by searching in the mountains south of Broken Oar Grotto. The staff is leaning against a tree. Here is a rough map location. This area is actually right by the embassy.
  11. I just noticed that UESP says "All available words of the shout must be used." That could mean you just need to use all of the words you have unlocked. For example, if you've unlocked two out of the three words, you'd need to hold the shout button down the full length of time for the two words to be used instead of a tap for one. It looks like UESP is wrong in this case on at least one of its pages. Either way, thanks for replying back with your testing. I'm sure it will help others out.
  12. I have no experience with Dragon Flame, but if there is conflicting information between the wikis you should trust UESP - it is of much higher quality. I also noticed that UESP mentioned needing all words on two different pages, so it's not likely a typo.
  13. That's a known bug with the Atronach Forge, unfortunately. Here's what the wiki says. The Daedric boots produced are the Dremora-specific boots (000f1abd) not the standard Daedric Boots (0001396a). They will not show up in your inventory but will add weight to your character. If you have already picked them up they can be removed and properly added with console commands. This bug is fixed by version 1.2 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. The bug can be fixed through use of console commands. Type player.removeitem f1abd 1 to remove the invisible boots, and player.additem 1396a 1 to add the actual Daedric Boots.
  14. If this was your post here, the same answer applies here. The problem you're experiencing is almost certainly caused by a mod. You don't have to uninstall any mods to do the test that I described in the previous post; you just have to disable them using the mod manager. Re-enabling them will also just take one click. However, when you do find the mod that's to blame, your only option is going to be to leave it disabled. You can contact the mod author for further advice on potential conflicts.
  15. First, disable all of your mods and then try to start a new game again. Result A - Everything Works If everything suddenly works, you know a mod has to be the issue. You'll have to go through your mod list and enable them one at a time to find the culprit. Result B - The Game Still Won't Start The problem is not a mod. Write back here that this is the case and we'll try to troubleshoot it with you.
  16. I'm pretty surprised that Skyrim was ever able to run on a laptop that old. Something I read said it was released in 2007? Most laptops have pretty low-end components that can only be expected to last a few years. You definitely shouldn't put any more money into a laptop that's approaching 9 years old. If your primary objective is gaming, you also shouldn't buy another laptop. You will be able to get a desktop that performs much, much better for even less money. There are plenty of online communities that will help you pick something out if you post your budget and requirements. Upgrading to Windows 10 won't improve your ability to run any of these games at all. It might make your laptop a bit more usable because Windows 10 is more polished than Vista, though. I'm confused what you're referencing by the "upgrade laptop by paying monthly fees for products" part. Your laptop won't improve by paying fees for anything you can download and install. It's really just outdated hardware at this point. None of the top 4 drivers would have any effect. The one you really have to try is the "nVidia Display Driver for Windows Vista." If that doesn't work, you're probably just going to have to get a new computer.
  17. Stealth archer. It's the best and most entertaining build in the game. If you're into role-playing with the races' inherent abilities according to lore, you could also do a spell-caster that emphasizes fire damage.
  18. Those windows scores aren't that helpful because they can be drastically altered if things aren't configured correctly. On the first image of your last post, do you see the link on the bottom right that says "View and print detailed performance and system information"? Can you take a picture of the table that's in that link instead? It looks to me like your repair-guy reset the computer and all of the drivers got removed. Drivers are essentially the software that allows the computer to utilize whatever hardware components it has. If there is something wrong with your graphics card driver then your computer won't be able to use the card, and you'll get terrible performance with anything that relies on it (e.g. all video games). You should go to your laptop manufacturer's (HP, Dell, Asus, etc.) website, select your laptop, and download and reinstall of the drivers for it. The driver for the graphics card is of particular importance. You can probably find this information easily by googling something like... *manufacturer* *laptop model* driversYou could also try to find out what was done to the computer during the repair. If the graphics card was damaged and removed, then drivers aren't the problem.
  19. Is this something that just suddenly happened, or has Skryim never been run on this PC? In terms of system requirements, you have the minimum RAM and a CPU that is below the minimum requirements. What graphics card do you have? I'd check out this website and report back with its findings. That error is probably a configuration issue with Skyrim or with DirectX. I'll troubleshoot it but if the laptop won't run the game anyways it might be for naught.
  20. That's too bad. Was it done in by old age? On the bright side, now you have plenty of motivation to build a PC and experience Skyrim as it was intended.
  21. Long time no see! It's been pretty slow around here. No Skyrim or TES VI news.
  22. You can't be a vampire and werewolf at the same time; acquiring the disease that leads to one cures the other. The only way to become a Werewolf is to do the Companion's quest line. If you complete the quest line and cure yourself, you can become a Werewolf again with help from Aela the Huntress (this requires the Dawnguard DLC). You can only do this once; if you cure it again, you cannot regain lycanthropy with Aela.
  23. Confession - I watched the first 5 or so minutes and decided that I couldn't take the repetition, so I skipped to the final 5 minutes. My interpretation -- based solely on the ending of Dragonborn when Miraak is defeated -- was always that the Dragonborn serves Hermaeus Mora as his new champion. Leaving Apocrypha doesn't mean that the Dragonborn is no longer under HM's influence, it just means that the Dragonborn can't be totally dominated within HM's realm. If HM intends to use the DB for some further purpose, there's not much point in keeping him "locked up" in some psychedelic prison. According to the wiki, Miraak's deal with HM was that he'd gain powers (or that his life would be saved) in exchange for a life of servitude in Apocrypha. Didn't the Dragonborn make a deal for the same powers (a shout) in exchange for the Skaal's knowledge? In other words, the DB already accepted HM's deal. We can't say the offer wasn't accepted just because HM let us leave Apocrypha -- it just didn't have the same conditions (servitude in Apocrypha) as Miraak's. Sidenote - most of the events in the Dragonborn quests relate to Miraak's plan to escape and return to Tamriel, so there's definitely a way out of Apocrypha.
  24. completequest is a buggy command that sometimes only marks the quest's journal entry as "complete" without actually changing anything. Even if it did work as intended, the entire quest would then be complete, so you wouldn't just be moved forward to the next stage (finding Astrid). Always use the setstage command instead. Try the following command. It should reset the quest to the stage right before you were having issues (i.e. you will have to talk with Nazir again). setstage DB10 35That may not work because it sounds like completequest may have already jumbled things up. If that's the case, post back and I'll advise you on an alternative fix.
