Avulstein Gray-Mane should have appeared in the house and told you his story to set you on the next objective. I haven't really heard of any bug causing that to not happen, so your best bet may just be to reload a recent save and try it again. Sometimes there are conflicts if you enter the houses at night with quests, because the game recognizes it as trespassing even though NPCs don't say anything.

Assuming I'm going to be more or less locked in to the Aldmeri Dominion so I can easily co-op with my friends, I'll probably use an Altmer Mage as my first character; that's about as far as I've thought ahead. This thread has definitely jump-started some deeper thinking for me, but at the same time I don't want to lock-in on something when we really don't have any assurance that any of these skills/bonuses are going to make it to retail. The Dunmer set-up you mentioned does look exceptionally tempting for PvP. Frankly, I'm shocked that they seem to have such powerful racial bonuses - 40 flame resistance and 7% damage increase? With the emphasis they're seemingly putting on fire-based spells (even the Dragon Knight class relies on it), that has OP potential. It's on my nerf-watch for release (if the leaks are even accurate and not temp stats).

I've been there. The system actually saves your work periodically (it should say "Last Saved ---" or something near the bottom corner. If you're lucky and haven't done much, most of it should still be there if you can find it and click it to restore the last saved portion. Some sort of browser addition like Lazarus (though the last time I tried it the dev ruined it) is probably the best measure against losing anything. Good work on these posts so far - don't get too frustrated and stop! They're good reads.

Both inn keepers? That must have been quite a rampage if it spilled over into settlements that rural. I don't know of any alternative way to go about it, I think that the inn keeper conversation is a necessary trigger for finding the courier. Console commands can be used to fix it if you have the PC version; if not, do you have a previous save?

Everytime you visit Windhelm there's a counter that goes up by 1. When it hits 4, you must then complete two more conditions before the quest becomes available. [*]Enter Windhelm through the main gate, the docks gate, or by fast-traveling, between 7pm and 7am. This triggers the graveyard scene. [*]Tova Shatter-Shield and Arivanya need to be alive. You can't start the quest because you don't pass that last condition with Tova Shatter-Shield (who commits suicide if Nilsine is killed in the DB quest). It's a common issue, unfortunately. If you have the PC version you can fix it with console commands, otherwise you'll have to load a previous save. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, I know that's not what you wanted to hear.

How to i get my level of smithing to 100?
David replied to SkyrimKitten's question in Skyrim Questions and Help
Sorry for the late reply, I must have missed this question. One of the updates ruined the iron dagger method. If you're using that guide here, it probably needs to be updated to better reflect that. For the fastest leveling, make sure you have the Warrior Stone active (20% faster), and are well rested (+5-15% faster). Crafting is going to give you more experience than improving weapons or related sub-skills. Here is an excerpt on crafting from the wiki: -
What will be the player base of each faction?
David replied to KenanJabr's topic in Elder Scrolls Online Discussion
I agree with you on the Ebonheart Pact. It will be the one that fills up with the stereotypical cussing 12 year olds that are famous for spending inordinate amounts of time screaming in CoD lobbies. Why? The recent release of Skyrim is going to make the Nords so popular it's probably the only race the kiddies will even consider. The second most popular faction, in my opinion, will be the Aldmeri Dominion for similar reasons (minus the CoD demographic). The role the AD played in Skyrim glorified the name and is going to cause a lot of "non-conformist" types to want to play as them -- both to annoy their Nord friends and because the AD seemed to be an unstoppable juggernaut. High Elves are also one of the more popular races; they've historically had the best magic bonuses in the TES games and even the lore makes them out to be "above" the other races (Lol'd at using my own writing for a source). Then you're also going to have people like Blake (a moderator here) who are obsessed with being felines because of some sort of furry fetish. I think Khajiits will be more popular than most think. I completely agree that the Daggerfall Covenant will be made up of the laid-back sort. I just don't see it being as popular because none of the races stand out. As you said, they're humanoids, but I think it works against them. If people are going to play as a human, I think they're going to tend towards what they know - Nords. They're the most popular human race. Orcs, from what I see, generally don't have that large of a following (of course I could be wrong, we'll see). Very interesting thread. -
Moved to the ESO discussion forum. For this stage in development, this seems to be a pretty logical list (all known and assumed things considered). I'm not sure if you saw the Ebonheart Racial Skills thread, but there are some tentative examples of beta skills there.

The one on the left is alright, but the other two must be from the UK.

45 min gameplay. From Ebonheart to Mournhold
David replied to Thotholio's topic in Elder Scrolls Online Discussion
Was the 46:09 video the same as the 45 one referenced here or were they different? It's starting to get hard to keep track of all of these. -

How much are you willing to pay for ESO?
David replied to David's topic in Elder Scrolls Online Discussion
Source? I haven't heard that myself. I know some analysts expect it to go free-to-play eventually, which may have some sort of "Premium" service being the regular subscription, but that's just complete speculation on their part. -
