  2. I'm shocked that almost everyone is buying the Imperial Edition. I definitely thought we'd have a closer ratio than the general public since we're all fans, but 7:1? Is everyone planning on playing as an Imperial or is it just to support the devs?
  3. This is an extremely old article; the information is outdated. The Skill Database is what we're trying to keep updated with the most-recent info (when possible).
  4. Digital Standard here. Couldn't justify the extra $15-20 for the Imperial Edition since I know I won't play as the Imperial race.
  5. Is there any information out there that explicitly states that it won't be publicly lifted? If they're going to let the media talk about it there's a good chance the whole thing will be lifted.
  6. Good catch. According to the official site, the physical / retail standard edition is the only one that has 3 days of early access. Since GMG is selling the digital standard edition, it might be a mistake. EDIT: Perhaps you only get 5 days for the digital standard if you buy it from the official site and not retail? I'm not sure, but regardless this is needlessly confusing.
  7. If it's actual in-game fog it's weather dependent. Otherwise you'll just have to go into the Video / Graphics settings and play with the sliders a bit.
  8. Things don't have to be game-breaking to be pay-to-win, they just have to offer any advantage exclusive to those who pay. With that said, that's not even why most people are upset. As few as 40 days ago ZOS was specifically stating that there would NEVER be any pay-gated content. Does anyone even remember these quotes? They should, because they were repeated ad nauseam when ZOS was trying to convince everyone to get behind a payment model that has failed more often than not recently. This is shady as hell for a few reasons. [*]It directly contradicts what they've said earlier about the reasoning for a subscription AND a cash-shop. There is legitimate concern to have that not only is the CE a bad direction, it sets an even worse precedent that they'll abuse if they can get away with it. [*]Despite the fact that we still know almost nothing about this game, ZOS is cashing in on $20-$40 of additional content that they said wouldn't exist. On top of that, we don't even know what this content actually is. What are the unique bonuses? No one knows, but they can still pre-order it. Before I add more let me just state that I expect the game to be successful. However, it genuinely looks like they're trying to make a quick buck here and cash-in with pre-orders before anyone sees how these things work. In other words, between this and the whole NDA debacle with two months before the game goes gold, they appear (whether warranted or not) to be extremely afraid of their own product. We've hardly even seen any game-play. Have some faith in your devs and none of this is necessary. No one has any say in how others play and enjoy the game. This is an MMO... Tons and tons of people always play these games to race to end game. Also, it's just blatantly false that the Imperial race is cosmetic. They've already been confirmed to have unique bonuses and abilities. Whether or not these bonuses are OP compared to any other race is completely irrelevant because they're still unique, pay-gated content. They may or may not surpass the other races depending on what you're trying to build.

  13. We already know it's not a skin because Imperial's have "unique bonuses," which almost certainly means racials. Also, I don't think they'd advertise a skin as a "playable race;" that would get a huge amount of backlash after disappointed people buy the CE. How is that not P2W? You're buying something that gives you an in-game advantage. We also don't know what the racial skills (presumably) are yet.
  14. My initial thought was "this is going to completely kill immersion." That's probably true to an extent, but I feel that this is a good move overall. People were relentlessly complaining about not being able to play with the friends, and splitting your player-base three ways with fairly significant isolation is never a good thing. Now, this doesn't mean they won't completely screw this up. This can't just be a "pre-order bonus" that only some people acquire. Likewise, they can NOT charge extra for this after pre-ordering ends. With how blatantly they've been money-grubbing recently, though, I doubt they'll handle this how they should. In that case some of the panic I've been seeing is probably more justified.Pretty much every Imperial Edition bonus is complete bullshit though.

Following the leaks and speculation surrounding an Imperial Edition (now official), ZeniMax has made a second notable announcement - pre-ordering ESO will allow players to choose which alliance to join regardless of their character's race. In addition to the above, early adopters will be given five days of early access. The article rounded up the surprising news with a new cinematic trailer. Click here to view the article

  19. It's official. Other Bonuses [*]Unique Imperial Bonuses [*]Unique Crafting Styles [*]Unique Gear The Ring of Mara offers an "experience bonus" when playing with a friend. Pay to win. Sigh...
  20. The original product page image has apparently been removed, but you can still see it here on what I'm assuming is an Amazon CDN server. Here's the original Amazon discussion.
  21. The funny thing is that ZeniMax justified the insanely high subscription cost as being a good thing because they wouldn't charge extra for updates such as new content and expansions. What do they think this is? Day 1 exclusive DLC. It's a joke.
