  1. I personally hate things like this. With how much the subscription is, the initial cost, the cash shop, a potential Live subscription... Are they seriously going to charge $30+ extra to unlock a new, exclusive race? Since I'm assuming they're going to have their own unique bonuses, it could impact actual game-play. If this is just a "shortcut" to unlock things everyone can get... It's not AS bad. But if this is all unique for pre-ordering or whatever, it's straight-up bullshit.
  2. A promotional image that was accidentally published to an Amazon product page (now removed) has led to speculation that The Elder Scrolls Online will launch with a special edition dubbed the "Imperial Edition." The image boasts the following perks. Physical Items [*]Collector's Edition Box [*]Steel Packaging [*]12" Molag Bal Statue [*]Map of Tamriel [*]224-page "Emperor's Guide to Tamriel" Book Digital Content [*]Playable Imperial Race (any alliance) [*]White Imperial Horse [*]Mudcrab Vanity Pet [*]Rings of Mara Although many expected some form of a "Collector's Edition" to be included at launch, the alleged bonuses in the Imperial Edition - especially the addition of the Imperial race - come as a complete shock. With ZeniMax justifying their $15 monthly subscription model as a way to distribute expansions and additional content without additional costs, it will be interesting to see how this edition - if legitimate - is received by the community. UpdateIt's now official. There are also additional perks. [*]Unique Imperial Bonuses [*]Unique Crafting Styles [*]Unique Gear Those who have purchased the the game via the official site are also reporting receiving the following email regarding an "Explorer's Pack." This has been officially announced as a pre-order bonus available with either edition.Uh... Yeah. This is a completely different game than what ZeniMax has been selling up to this point. 4. According to the official EU PlayStation Blog, PlayStation 4 users will not be required to pay two monthly subscriptions - one for PS+ and one for ESO - to play The Elder Scrolls Online. That's obviously exciting news for PS4 players who were hesitant about the possibility of paying an additional fee on top of the already hefty cost of ESO.But what about Microsoft and the Xbox One? Game Informer tracked down Bethesda for clarification on whether or not the PS4's policy would be shared with the One. And the verdict is... ... Less than ideal. As expected, One users will have to pay two subscriptions.Click here to view the article

  6. Hopefully they integrate some sort of directory like this into the game in an immersive way. I'm not holding my breath, though.
  7. What's weird is that Kate Beckinsale is 40 and looks 10x better than almost all of the twenty-somethings I know.

  10. I don't particularly like it since the theme was obviously designed for a narrow width, but I sort of expect the new theme to be - and Fergal won't appreciate this - white.
  11. Very interesting. I hadn't even thought to look at that. You must have excellent vision.
  12. The articles/guilds will have to stay fixed-width, for now at least. It won't be consistent, unfortunately.
  13. Theorycrafting is probably a bit broad (and vague to some people). Also taking suggestions to add to the poll.
  14. Didn't seem to help CoD. The irritating thing here, in my opinion, is that since they were clearly aiming for teen they cut down on a lot of the "realities" of mature things, like combat. Teen isn't really supposed to have any blood or gore, which I think is one of the many immersive aspects of mature games (even though it's never horrifically accurate). They're certainly not going to add the M things back in that they cut for a T rating at this point in development. I kind of get a kick out of the ESRB ratings. The "Mature" rating only stops the kids from playing that are - likely - mature enough to handle it, i.e. the kids who have good parents who pay attention to what they're doing. Before anyone freaks out on me about how they're a good parent even though they let their kids play M games, I'll add this caveat: this is obviously not always the case. It's not a matter of drawing a line in the sand between ratings; it's a matter of knowing what your kids are doing in these games, and being able to teach them about what they're seeing because you ARE paying attention to what's in them. tl;dr all of the stereotypical CoD kiddies who should be the ones getting filtered by M ratings never will be.
  15. You can disenchant those items, but the effect will be the same as if you disenchanted something like novice robes. So yes you can disenchant them, but no you will not have the same amount / magnitude of enchantment. You can put enchantments on your gear and achieve things like -100% spell cost. Refer to this wiki page. For example, you can do a "Fortify Destruction" enchantment on 4 pieces of apparel: head, neck, chest, and fingers. Getting an enchantment magnitude of -25% on each of those apparel slots results in -25% * 4 = -100% spell cost for destruction. In short, you now have unlimited casting for all spells in the destruction tree. It's important to note that disenchanting items does NOT automatically give you the same magnitude of enchantment, just the same effect. The magnitude is based on your enchanting skill level AND the level of soul gem you use for the enchantment (Grand is the best). More info. If you really want to get ridiculously high numbers you can max enchanting, alchemy, and smithing to create an improvement loop that infinitely boosts certain stats. There's a good guide on this here.
  16. The Elder Scrolls Online is officially a game intended for "Mature" audiences, as rated by the ESRB. The announcement was released January 22nd via the official Facebook page... ZeniMax clearly expected and intended for the game to achieve a "Teen" rating for a broader potential audience. However, those hoping for a more mature overall theme and the potential for gorier graphical details will likely be pleased with the ESRB's determination.Click here to view the article

  18. Yes. I can only do so many derivatives of people in an ouroboros, unfortunately.
  19. If you click edit and then use the "Full Editor," you can add a poll to the thread if you want actual numbers. I personally expect to see a lot of Nord warriors running around.
  20. Good to see you back, Francis. I was wondering if we'd see you around again with all of the new information that's been released. Interesting video. Thanks for sharing!
