Blake
Apple once again proving that it is totally lame. However, Iphone 4s for only 99 dollars. :oOne of the reasons I stopped watching G4 was because it became less gamer, where they combined X-Play and Cheat, ditched some of its other gamer shows, and filled their air time with stuff like Ninja Warrior and other shows. Nowadays I only have basic cable and less time for that as it is, but I don't see this being a good move for them.

I usually only watch G4 for their coverage of special events now.

It's been way too long since I've had satellite, so I forgot the crap they showed.
Jake
At first my cable package didn't support G4, and when it finally did, they had already switched to reality crap. They need to realize; the casuals don't watch television about video games. You will get more viewers if you target the hardcore crowd. Whatever; they are probably better business people than I am. The internet is a better place to find game related stuff, anyway.
Nathan
I was going to write more about the G4 thing but since we don't have it in Aus there would be no point for me to do that. However a similar thing happened here, there's a gaming show called good game, which used to be really good, it was funny and they knew what they were talking about but a few years ago they fired one of the two hosts, who was actually the only gamer and was the one who came up with most of their ideas, but they wanted to get a more general audience and start a kids show which he knew wouldn't work and since then its a pretty terrible show, and its so clear that its completely run by corporate suits rather than actual gamers.Like Squishy said, I really hate that they don't realise that hardcore gamers and geeks are completely capable of supporting a tv show so they don't need to appeal to a broader audience, especially since normally its still understandable to most people so there's no need to "dumb it down". Besides casual gamers are far less likely to watch a gaming show/channel. Same goes for general internet/"nerdy" stuff.
Snuggles
The fact that E3 on G4 had the most viewers on one channel for the whole year should have told them something. Especially considering this E3 was probably the worst E3 ever. The problem is, I don't think there is enough content for them to have a pure gaming channel running for 24 hours. My opinion would be, to split the channel up. Four hours of the day, have gaming related shows such as X-Play. Another four hours have Tech related shows such as AotC. Then for the last four hours have Shows such as Ninja Warrior and a few other geeky shows. Hell, maybe even an hour of Cops and Cheaters in there. Then for the other 12 hours, repeat the entire setup for people who are up at night. On the weekends, when people stay up much later. They could run anime time slots, or just movies that would appeal to gamers. ( Which I think they used to do anyway ). They could even show reruns of majors events such as WC3 MLG finals, Starcraft tournaments, CoD tournaments, etc. I remember getting a channel that showed nothing but these events at one time. I think it was through satellite though. They have the potential to appeal to the hardcore gamer/geek. I don't really know what happened though. The station went all downhill when they switched from TechTV to G4.
