It's a phrase generically repeated all the time by guards across Skyrim. Since it's repeated so often, it's turned into an internet meme - something that people view as humorous and change slightly to add variations.In the game, the phrase means that the guard saying it was once an adventurer, but was injured in battle by taking an "arrow to the knee."
