Lakeview Manor is gone along with my steward Calder?

So recently I bought the Legendary Edition of Skyrim (we lost the first disc of Skyrim) and I went to go to my house in Falkreath and Lakeview Manor is gone along with my steward and all the possession I had left inside my house. I still have a saved file of me being in Lakeview Manor with everything before losing the other disc of Skyrim. I have already installed Hearthfire and I am rebuilding my Manor. Is there a way to find my steward and do I delete my old saved file of Lakeview Manor and continue on with rebuilding it?

Check out this thread, it seems a lot of users here have had this same issue. On page 2, a couple people posted solutions that worked for them.

Oh crap! I have recently ordered the Skyrim LE, and am waiting for it to arrive in store. I sure as hell hope I don't encounter that problem, I have put too much work into my houses to have that done to me. Am I correct in assuming it isn't meant to happen, so it might not?
