Skill Database Updated

Recommended Posts

After an admittedly unfortunate amount of time, Elder Souls members Areodon and Musclemagic finally got through to this lazy and useless misunderstood administrator and championed an all-or-nothing update to the skills database. Thanks to them, I'm pleased to (finally) announce that our skills database has been updated with the most current skill information known to the TESO community!

View Skill Database

Updated Skill Trees

Which is, you know... Every tree.

    [*]Racial

    [*]Class

    [*]Armor

    [*]Weapon

    [*]Guild

    [*]Alliance War

    [*]World

Almost every individual skill had their numerical values vastly adjusted, and some even changed effects, so it's likely necessary to recheck the practicality of your builds. In less devastating news, a large amount of information on morphs was added to many of the skills - some of them look pretty great!

Interface Changes

These updates have been around for a few weeks, but I'm sure the majority of our visitors haven't been on the page recently to notice. If you've missed it, here's a quick recap!

[*]Sections now default as collapsed, for easier and quicker navigation between trees. Credit for this suggestion is awarded to Musclemagic.

[*]Expand / Collapse is explicitly stated, so the non-techies among us better understand the functionality.

[*]The buttons at the top no longer link to specific sections. Instead, they toggle the collapse / expand animation. Test audiences indicate that everyone but me hates this.

[*]The switch between +/- no longer causes the text to shift. This unnoticeable update noticeably increases overall sex appeal.

I'm also considering adding color-coded cells (or skill name text color) to differentiate between open and closed descriptions (this would be in addition to the +/-). I haven't managed to get this to work without an abhorrent rainbow of conflicting colors, but yeah. Additional suggestions welcome.

Miscellaneous Notes

For those things that just don't fit elsewhere.

[*]Disclaimer added to the top of the page that subtlety states "PLEASE STOP SENDING ME EMAILS ABOUT HOW EVERYTHING IS WRONG BECAUSE THE GAME COMES OUT IN APRIL!1one"

Seriously, guys, this is not supposed to be an official locked-in resource. These values WILL change up to and after release. Corrections are very welcome and appreciated, however.

    [*]Special thanks to krave.

He hasn't been around here in ages, but it took a lot of effort to put together all of that data. Thank him, not me!

Awesome awesome awesome! I can actually start referring people here!! :) Great job, thanks a lot for doing it, and I like where it's at on the homepage as well.

ps- I'm starting to like the buttons. XD Would it be possible to have the buttons collapse everything except for the button clicked? It would add function besides expand/collapse that we already have. I like being able to clean things up fast like that.. if it's hard to do though, then d/w about it.

That's an interesting suggestion, and no it wouldn't be hard. I don't know if that's the behavior people would expect though.

Any way for the individual trees to be minimized as well?

If I'm looking at Class I don't want to have to look at all the junk classes when I just want to see Templar. :P

Edit: Perhaps instead of the + on the left of each subcategory expanding all the things within it, it just expanded the spells within the category like the main categories (weapons/armor/class) already does. Then we'd be able to just expand each individual spell, I don't think expanding them all at once is necessary.

Edit#2: PS- Add a big button in this post, at least. It's even hard to find the link in here. XD

Would it be possible to not have the skills in alphabetical order but in the order they are in the game?

This is relevant because it takes quite some time to get to the later skills!

I remember hearing that there were passives for investing X amount of points in Health/Magicka/Stamina...

Do these still exist, or did they ever?

I'm not sure. The skill database is our most up-to-date best guess, so if they're not there they were probably removed awhile back (if they existed).

Yes, this is something that should be changed.

EDIT: Everything should be fixed now.

Ya it was me it  .Now to begin the torturous task of updating it again lol.

I think that your above correction was the only thing that was accidentally reverted. If there's anything else that's wrong, let me know. :)

Veiled Strike
  • [*]Requirement: Stealth [*]Deals 22 magic damage and unbalances enemy. [*]Stuns enemy for 4 seconds.

It no longer requires stealth, but only gives the disorient and stun if used from stealth.

Can be used as a (great) damaging spell all the time.

Puncture
  • [*]Target's armor -40% for 12 seconds.

can be morphed to also reduce spell resistance by 40% or give yourself a armor bonus for a short time (6/7 sec)

Do you know if the armor bonus on the 2nd Puncture morph was a % or if it was a flat #?

If it's a flat # I can see potential for using it on a light-armor user.

Are you sure? Seems much too high to me. Well anyway, you can't compare a class skill with the added bonus of a completely different skill.@lvl 10 a good shield has about 40-50 armor, so it doubles that. And until we know how much armor reduces damage...

I think one of the developer videos mentioned that the respec option is at shrines, and that it will cost gold. But I hope there's an option to respec skills/passives individually too, instead of all at once, in case you want to tweak your build just a little.
