  1. There is nothing more frustrating than gathering your squad for some 3v3 Co-Op in MLB The Show 26, only to get stuck staring at an infinite matchmaking wheel, a frozen lineup screen, or getting hit with an immediate disconnect before the first pitch is even thrown. Co-Op has always been one of the most exciting ways to play Diamond Dynasty, but extensive server instability and random bugs have left a lot of lobbies completely broken lately. If you and your friends are hitting a wall trying to get into a game, you are definitely not alone. Until San Diego Studios rolls out a permanent stability patch, the community has had to figure out what triggers these freezes. Below is a breakdown of the best workarounds to bypass the 3v3 Co-Op glitches and get your squad back on the diamond. 1. Swap the Lobby Host If you are repeatedly running into "session failure" notices or getting booted before the loading screen even appears, the issue might be tied to how your specific lobby is interacting with the server. A simple host migration often solves this. Switch the captain: Disband your current party and have a different friend create the lobby from scratch. Ideally, let a teammate who is on a completely different console network try hosting. Watch the timer: If you are queuing into the matchmaking pool with random players, keep a close eye on the clock. If the search timer goes past the two-minute mark, back out of the queue entirely. Forcing it to keep searching often triggers a hard lobby freeze. 2. Audit Your Diamond Dynasty Lineup Believe it or not, the players you choose to bring into the Co-Op pool can completely break the session before the game even starts. Invalid squad configurations are a massive catalyst for lineup screen crashes. Remove Supercharged Players: There is currently a glaring issue where including active Supercharged hitters or pitchers in your selection lineup causes the co-op session to crash instantly. Swap them out for standard versions or other cards until a hotfix goes live. Check for Duplicates: Do a quick audit of your active squad. Make sure you don't have a player accidentally duplicated anywhere between your starting roster and your bench positions, as this confuses the server synchronization. 3. Clear the Game Cache (Close & Retry) When MLB The Show 26 gets stuck in a loop on the stadium selection screen or the lineup screen, waiting it out rarely works. You need to clear the temporary data causing the conflict. Force close the app: Don't just go to your home screen; fully shut down the game from your console's dashboard. Hard reset your console: On either PlayStation or Xbox, hold down the physical power button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it completely shuts down. Unplug the power cable from the back for two full minutes, plug it back in, and reboot. This clears out the system cache and forces a fresh handshake with the game servers. 4. Optimize Stadium Selection Cross-play matchmaking puts a lot of strain on the game's netcode, especially when rendering detailed environments. High-asset custom stadiums are notorious for desynchronizing players across different console generations. Stick to the classics: Avoid using custom, high-asset created stadiums or minor league venues with heavy background rendering. Choose standard MLB stadiums instead. Dial down the weather conditions: When setting up the game preferences, choose Day games with clear weather. Rain, overcast clouds, and night lighting graphics add extra rendering lag that frequently triggers mid-game freeze-offs. 5. Check Server Status & Maintenance Schedules Sometimes the issue isn't on your end at all. San Diego Studios frequently deploys backend updates and server maintenance that can temporarily disable multiplayer functionality without a clear in-game warning. Monitor community reports: Check platforms like Downdetector to see if a massive spike in player disconnections is happening globally. Mind the 4:00 AM PT window: Scheduled server maintenance routinely takes place around 4:00 AM PT (7:00 AM ET). If you are attempting to jump into a 3v3 match anywhere near or during this window, matchmaking will fail entirely. The Reality of Co-Op Right Now While these steps will help you bypass a lot of the common bugs, it is no secret that the mode is in a rough spot. Recent player sentiment across communities highlights how widespread the issue has become: "Coop in general has just been broken for like 2 weeks and gotten worse the last 2 days. Can't find a game in 2s at all either." — Community Discussion, r/MLBTheShow Until a comprehensive stability patch is deployed, utilizing these workarounds—especially auditing your lineup for Supercharged players and swapping lobby hosts—remains your best bet to get a game up and running.
