How to make console changes permanent?
David replied to Byrd1911's question in Skyrim Questions and Help
setessential RefID 1 Replace the "RefID" above with that which corresponds to the character you're trying to make essential. To save clothes, since you're on the PC version, I'd try to just use mods for the most flexibility. You could try Amazing Follower Tweaks or Simple Outfit System, neither of which I've used, but they seem to be what you're looking for. -
I am trying to change my non-follower spouse to essential. This would also possibly apply to changing their clothing as well. When I try either, it undoes itself as soon as I reload. How can I make these changes permanent? This is on PC, if that wasn't obvious by my use of console commands.

Hello there, I am new to Elder Scrolls Online and am thoroughly enjoying the vast world and lore it offers. Although; I am finding it challenging to decide on the best class for solo play. I usually play in the evenings and my schedule is pretty irregular; so I end up doing a lot of solo content. I have tried a couple of different classes but have not yet found one that feels right for my playstyle. I enjoy both PvE and PvP; so I am looking for a class that can handle both reasonably well. I understand that some classes might excel in one over the other; but a good balance would be ideal. Given that I often play solo; a class with good self-sustain and survivability is crucial. I am not the best at dodging or avoiding damage, so a class that can take a few hits would be helpful. As someone still getting used to the game mechanics, a class with a more straightforward learning curve would be beneficial. I don't mind putting in the time to learn; but I would prefer not to feel overwhelmed. I have read that classes like the Sorcerer and Templar are popular choices for solo players; but I am curious about the community's opinions. Are there any particular builds or strategies you could recommend? Also; how important are gear and skill choices in enhancing a class's solo capabilities?🤔 Also, I have gone through this post; https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/403615/best-solo-power-apps-class which definitely helped me out a lot. I am excited to find a class that I can really dive into and master; so your insights will be invaluable. Thanks in advance for your help and assistance.😇

Hello there, This is my first post after just joining this discussion, so please forgive me and provide kind assistance if I have posted to the wrong subsection. I am new here but a real enthusiast and loving this community so far. I have a background in Gaming and in streaming and feel I could help with documentation, at least for starters. As a new member in this forum and wish to share and gain some knowledge. I am looking forward to create my own discussion to resolve my query and gain some knowledge though I have taken part in various discussion which is definitely helped me a lot. Also in what category should be taken depends on what factors? Thank you in advance.

I think it is the ebony warrior he wants you to get stronger so he has a better chance at a decent fight with you but idk how the fuck he knows when you shout but yk -

I made a new set. It now works for potions other than enchanting. If I want to make an enchanting potion, the alchemy gear I made myself is adding zero benefit, I have to use the gear I bought. Very odd.

I've read about people having similar issues before but don't have a good solution. It's rare enough that not many people have reproduced it and those that have don't post follow-ups on what they did to fix it (if anything). If you're trying to do a fortify loop/glitch, there is a specific sequence you have to repeat to get it to work. Otherwise here are some sequential troubleshooting thoughts: You've probably already tried this, but take all of the gear off and put it back on again before making more potions. Remake the gear, as you planned, on your current save. If that fails... See if alchemy works as expected on a substantially older save. If all else fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Let us know if you find anything that helps!

Yes, they stay worse. Oddly enough, I made destruction gear as just right after, and that works as advertised. I guess I will have to make the Alchemy gear again, see if that helps. And yes - same ingredients. Little paralysis factory in my greenhouse, never have to worry about money!
-
It might be a UI bug. Are the numbers still worse after you reload the game? Some ingredients have the same effect but different magnitudes. UESP has a good list. Are you sure you used the same ingredients?

I bought 3 pieces of alchemy gear and enchanted a ring with an Alchemy boost. Later, when my enchanting skills had increased, I enchanted a new ring with alchemy boosts and made my own gear (circlet, bracers, necklace). However, when I use the new gear, my potions get WORSE. For example the circlet I purchased makes potions 17% stronger. The circlet I made makes them 25% stronger. But when I actually create the potions, they come out worse with the new gear that was supposed to give me better potions. It worked with the first ring I made giving me a 14% boost, but not with the second ring I made giving me a 25% boost. What am I doing wrong?

Every so often people question my opinions on Skyrim and I feel the need to show them this site. Lol
