Steam Winter Sale 2013

Sort of a disappointing start, but there's a lot of time left.

An Amazon rep has also stated that they will be matching all of Steam's sale prices, in addition to the huge selection they already have.

The entire Total War series is 75% off, including the Grand / Master bundles. Strongly considering them.

Seriously considering a few games, even if I am starting to buy PC games so often now that I can't play them fast enough - But them salez bro.

Looking into Chivalry, Far Cry 3 and possibly The Witcher 2, just from what I've heard. Need to do a bit more research to see if I'll like them, but they are really a steal.

Edit: Got Chivalry and Far Cry 3. Don't know if I'll bother with anymore, whatever the case, will just wait until Jan. 3 and have a look then. Not sure if the Daily Deals make it to that last day like the regular deals, so just went for it.

Amazon (and maybe Steam?) had the Far Cry 3 Deluxe Edition for the standard $7.50 yesterday in what I assume was a price mistake, did you manage to snag it at that price?

I was going to buy Shogun 2 / the Grandmaster Collection, but I looked up the price history and discovered it was $30 on sale at the beginning of December at Amazon (as opposed to $42 on Steam). I made a rule for myself to never buy anything during these sales unless it's the lowest (correct) price ever. Helps my wallet a bit.

I haven't ever played either, but like you, have heard good things as well. And dat price.

The price will rise 24 hours after the daily deal ends to its normal sale price. I don't remember what it was either, but it is definitely higher.

The way seasonal Steam sales work is that developers list two sale prices for their game: one discount that exists for the duration of the sale, and a steeper discount that is implemented only when the game is selected as a daily deal or flash sale.

Prices never go lower than they do when the game is a daily deal or flash sale. However, these prices return (generally) on the last day for those who missed them.

Sounds bit like Origins, which I thought was great.

I ended up buying both 1 and 2 for a combined $7.50, so it's not like I'm losing my house even if I don't like them.

For me at least, it's still €5. Pretty weird.

I also picked up Trine 2. I don't even know why, I've seen it used in benchmarks and it looks fun and I just bought it - I mean, €1.69 lel. God, I have no time to play all these new games, I need to stop buying shit, lol.

I had a backlog consisting of like 3 AAA games, 2 humble bundles, and a bunch of other garbage BEFORE these sales. Chances are I won't ever play what I've purchased so far.

Left 4 Dead 2 is free, but it has also crashed the servers for a few hours.

There's nothing else really interesting today, in my opinion.

Today is the last day - or the "encore" - of the sale, so the previous daily deals and whatnot are on sale again. Steam actually pulled a fast one and ended all of the non-daily deal / flash sale prices early.
