Dark Souls 2 Announced with Trailer

Have you heard of Dark Souls? What am I saying, of course you have! While not coming close to Skyrim in sales, it was considered a serious rival when it came to the quality of the game. Many went as far as to claim it as the best game of the current console generation. I'm undecided, but Dark Souls was nonetheless an amazing game.
Imagine the surprise - and excitement - I experienced when I came across this trailer announcing the upcoming Dark Souls II.
Prepare to die. Again. And again. And again.
It's not like From Software to make a sequel; they're known more for "spiritual successors," such as the transition from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls. I'm by no means complaining; Dark Souls had an amazing universe that just begs to be explored further. Judging by the trailer, the sequel looks to be a bit more story driven than the original. I guess we'll see with time, eh?
I hope that Sony sees the success of this series and seriously considers hiring an in-house studio to make Demon's Souls 2, as these Demon's and Dark Souls games are truly the quintessence of what video games are all about: exploring new worlds and feeling a sense of fulfillment. This is something that many developers seem to have forgotten.

I saw this last night at like 3am and really wanted to post it since I knew you were going to shit your pants just like I did, but I forgot about it in my morning drunken stupor. Really pleased to see that you jumped on it.
I'm pretty excited. I expect this will be a spiritual successor instead of an actual sequel, kind of like Demon's Souls -> Dark Souls. The only reason they changed the name was because Sony owned the rights to Demon's and they wanted it released on the 360.
The trailer says the main character is undead, so I think it will be a direct sequel, or at least be in the same universe.
It was the same with Demon's Souls though. Why does that indicate a direct sequel? That's how the characters are in these games; drifting back and forth between the states of being undead and alive.
Edit - here is a statement that was released indicating it's not a direct sequel.
Hmm...I thought it was a direct sequel. I guess I was wrong about that. The gameplay is what's important, though.
Heard it would feature an easy mode for those who just want to get through the game.
Not that I care as long as it still has its ball-bustingly hard mode.
