ESO Console Costs: Xbox Live Gold Required, PS+ Not

Sony has announced that PS4 users will not be required to pay an additional subscription fee for PS+ to play ESO. The Xbox One, however, will require Live Gold.
ESO Elder Scrolls Online
According to the official EU PlayStation Blog, PlayStation 4 users will not be required to pay two monthly subscriptions - one for PS+ and one for ESO - to play The Elder Scrolls Online.

Will playing online with The Elder Scrolls Online have a separate subscription compared to PlayStation Plus?

A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online. PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will pay — nothing more.

That's obviously exciting news for PS4 players who were hesitant about the possibility of paying an additional fee on top of the already hefty cost of ESO.

But what about Microsoft and the Xbox One? Game Informer tracked down Bethesda for clarification on whether or not the PS4's policy would be shared with the One. And the verdict is...

Xbox One users will need an Xbox Gold subscription,

... Less than ideal. As expected, One users will have to pay two subscriptions.

RIP Microsoft.

Why is Microbad so silly.

its not Microsoft who decides ...

its not Microsoft who decides ...

sure it is

Unfortunately for PS+ users, they'll still have to pay for every other online game in their library, so they'll end up paying two subscriptions anyway.

Personally, if possible, I think the best solution would have been to have no subscription fee on Ps4 and have Sony give the ESO developers/publishers a commission based on game activity.
