Can't find Vilkas?

Okay, well. Vilkas is my husband in the game, and since we married I refused to ever leave his side because I was afraid that he'd die so I made sure I watched his back all the time when he was with me. Recently I had to do a Dark Brotherhood mission, I very well know that followers can't enter the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary and they would wait outside, and I never had a problem with that until now. When I went back outside to retrieve him I couldn't find him anywhere. I looked on the road leaving the sanctuary and at my homes and I even looked in Jorvaskr, everywhere I looked I couldn't find him. I waited, and I waited and waited, I didn't get a letter about his death (if he even died) and I couldn't find him still! I'm just annoyed... he carried a lot of my valuables

Maybe Vilkas thought you were too domineering and moved to Elsewhere.... Just kidding. But it does sound like the worse has happened to him. I have left followers outside of places before and upon returning found them mysteriously gone. Usually I have found them dead near by, their body hiding beyond a rock or in the bush. I know, it shouldn't happen if your not around, but it can. Do you have a save point when you exited the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary? I would go back to that point and scale the area. Otherwise, if you are on PC, try using these codes to bring him to you. If he is alive he will come:
