Nightblade mage build

I've found out that most of NB skills are magicka-based, and deals magic damage.

And I decided to come up with this:

Melee [1H&Shield]

Assassin's Blade (Increased Range)

Teleport Strike (Increased Damage Taken)

Aspect of Terror/Veild Strike

Siphoning Strike

Immovable

Soul Shred

Ranged [Resto]

Strife (Increased Healing Received)

Agony (Increased DoT)

Cripple

Blessing of Protection

Shadow Cloak (70% Spell/Attack Crit Bonus)

Meteor

Equip: 5 Light Armors (Head. Chest. Waist. Hands. Feet) or (Head. Waist. Hands. Shoulder. Feet)

Equip: 2 Heavy Armors (Legs. Shoulder) or (Legs. Chest)

So here's a few notes on your build. I'm not sure if your going for a more pve or pvp focus.  Either way i'd go for heavy armor legs and chest. I believe that gives the best armor.

So pvp wise. I believe the staff build is for kiting and over all favorable damage mitigation. However, it'll be counted by some one with a hard gap closer like TP strike, bolt escape, 1h/shield or 2h Charges. However, cripple does counter a lot of the movement speed boost abilities. I do also love your use of shadow cloak, which is basicly the best use of the ability: a long range damage bonus... short of dots.. is going to stop you from cloaking and throwing out some more damag. Blessing of protection is weird. I guess its to justify using the staff.

So what i dont like is the blessing of protection. The armor and small heal is nice, but steadfast ward is amazing. use that when your low on HP and it makes for a really strong buff and you can get healed for the left over. Unless of corse your thinking of using it in a group oriented support setting. Than blessing might be better.

The morphs for the armor abilities  gain increased effectiveness for each piece of that armor you have on. Immovable will be more effective with more heavy armor. However, using it will reduce your need for stamina to dodge around. I'd recommend using veiled strike as in melee this will most likely be your most powerful damaging ability, and be your best bet for actually getting them low enough to use Assassin's Blade effectively.

That's my take on it from a pvp prospective. If your looking for more a PvE focused build not sure what your going for.

i think that u should have cripple on ur destro staff bar to kite and i think that destructive touch(fire) is better than aspect of fear when they get close....i'm gonna use annulment on my resto staff bar coz i think its gonna be pretty good if u stay ranged, gives a big advantage vs other casters...

i'm just worried about templars with eclipse, they can completely lock u out of combat

ya i've debated small details like that and I prefer aspect over destructive because it effects 2 people and the snare morph after the fear effect ends is pretty nice. aside from the speed burst you get from cripple, i dont really need it on the destro bar as force shock and basic attacks will apply snares. annulment is something i've been considering for sure, great ability.

  • 2 weeks later...

I plan on making Nightblade Vampire summoner.  Took a while to find a build I like but got it. Shadow Cloak for escape with sneak a Must in any nightblade build. Then Summon shade morphed into Dark shades for TWO of them. Then trapped webbing morphed for the TWO black widows that last longer and do poison dammage. Then Poison Mist from Vampire skill line along with Essence Drain morphed and for the ULTIMATE Devouring Swarm.  I hope the Spider wont need to be clicked on by a ally to release them.... If so I have a friend so not a big deal. Plan on going almost Pure magicka and using all light armor.

here's the caster NB build i think i'm pretty much set on:

altmer7 light armor30 magicka19 health-resto staffstrifeentropycrippleregenerationshadow cloakULT-consuming darkness-destro staffweakness to elementsforce shockhasteaspect of terrorshadow cloakULT-meteor

basically pop out of crouch, bust out dots on target, then switch to destro bar pop weakness/haste for quick heavy attack spam while kiting with force shock/cripple. shadow cloak/fear/heal when necessary. stay at range, kite, disappear.

I'm going to try this out this weekend, but what is entropy I'm not finding it anywhere.

Update - Nevermind, its under the mages guild.
