I've been following Force's youtube channel and I've noticed that he seems to be able to faceroll situations where I would have had trouble surviving with my melee characters. He can AoE grind mobs on his DK using destruction staff, while a sword/board user would struggle facing two opponents. He also seems able to kite and kill most bosses designed for groups. My question is the following: Do you think it's worth leveling a character using a melee weapon as your primary or would it be better to switch to melee after reaching max veteran ranks? I was planning to to do a 2h/sword and board build but it seems like it would be gimped in solo PvE.

NEW Werewolf, Vampire and Imperial Skills

If the Imperial racials are real I might have to rethink my choice of race. What do you guys think is best for a tank with focus on PvE, Imperial or Orc? -
The Cost of the Elder Scrolls Online
Soaks replied to David's topic in Elder Scrolls Online Discussion
I don't really see what gamers are complaining about in this case. In avrage I probably buy 1 game/month or more. While I'm playing and paying a subscribtion fee for a game I enjoy I won't need to buy other games. Looking at it this way most of you will probably save money while you are playing ESO. And yes GW2 payment method was "better", but that is the only MMO using this method and still manage to give decent service/patches. I'd say its the exception, not the rule. Lucas +1 -
I'm happy to see that it didn't effect everyone! I figured it did since there was so many complaints about it in the in-game chat. Perhaps it was amplified for me because I'm playing out of EU.

The game ran smoothly for me, no fps drops at high graphics settings. What bothered me most was the latency issues, mostly noticeble in melee. I encountered loads of bugs, crashes, robot voices and other things that should be expected in beta. Combat has potential to be awesome. Player character animations are awesome, among the best I've seen in an mmo. Some smaller mobs could need more exaggerated animations to make their actions more clear. I belive the main issue isn't the animations but rather the latency issues, there was (atleast for me) a slight delay in every action to register which made combat feel less responsive. I hope they have it sorted by release.

NVM I just re-read it, now I understand. That is awesome!

From the latest Ask Us Anything: Will the veteran system rewards consist of top tier gear (stat-wise), or will they simply consist of cosmetic items and/or titles and achievement rewards? Currently, we think they’ll be very cool cosmetic things, but that could change. For example, imagine your gear looking like a Golden Saint’s, but all the stats remain the same as the gear you have found. Think of Veteran Rank as similar to level requirements for items. Veteran rewards are still undergoing development. Seems like I was right to worry. Or did he dodge the question? I'm not sure how to interpret this answer.

Based on what I've seen in other games, I do believe you are right. I hope not, but still... Ash Cloud is a good contender for the Obsidian Shield slot, but as irons says, it will probably not trigger the +4% stamina passive Although I could probably do without that stamina boost. I'll have to do some more thinking

Ye, Dragons Blood could probably work as well in many cases, and probably a lot better for soloing /PvP. Spiked Armor costs a lot less Magicka so I would be able to keep it up more. It would give me the + 12% received healing in addition to giving me 30% dmg reduction and some dmg. It also seems less situational for dungeons. My Magicka pool will probably be smaller than yours, though. But as you say, it's only a hunch. I can't wait to try some of our theorys out

I don't see why you made the 2h build pure magicka and the sword/board build balanced. My build will be quite similar. I'm still tinkering with it though. Please tell me what you think. As you can see my goal is to get as many of the tanking passives as I can squeeze in there. I'm also trying to keep a balance between stamina and magicka. My DK PvE Tank 2h AoE tank M. Fiery Reach - Gap closer / ranged interrupt / snare + I wont have to body-pull packs and it will give me some control S. Cleave - AoE DoT M. Dark Talons - Aoe dmg / AoE stun / adds Draconic tanking passives M. Spiked armor - toughness / adds some Draconic tanking passives S. Immovable - Combined with spiked armor and I'll be as hard as any sword/board tank / CC immunity U. DK standard - AoE Snare / Aoe dmg / Healing debuff Sword/Board - Boss tank S. Puncture - Taunt S. Defensive posture - Spell reflect / + block amount M. Obsidian shield - AoE dmg shield / + 4% stamina on use M. Spiked armor - toughness / adds Draconic tanking passives S. Low slash - Damage reduction / snare U. Magma Armor - For those heavy boss hits If they do allow us to stun bosses I would like to get a stun in there somehow

ok. tthanks that does clear it up for me.

I'm thinking about getting some of the Draconic Power passives for my DK but I have no current plans to use any draconic abilities. Will I have to use draconic skills to get the passives? Something Musclemagic said made me think so. Where did you guys find the info on how to become emperor? I would love to read it if you could pass me a link. Love this thread! learning new things every day here

What do you guys think about going with 2-hander as secondary weapon for PvE as a stamina purist tank? As opposed to going with bow, I mean. I have a feeling that you won't have much use of the bow while tanking (as long as I have another ability for pulling) while switching to 2-hander might be a nice for the extra DPS whenever the situation allows for it. Being able to sneak-attack when solo seems nice but the 2-hander finisher Reverse Slash seems sweet as well. I'd get a lot more AoE this way I think.

Won't you miss the social part of it? Cyrodiil must be a total zergfest when most of the players doesn't even have a keyboard. I know how important communication was in WWW in GW2. I'm guessing it will be at least as important in ESO. I'm a bit worried that they will make the PvE facerolling easy because of the lack of communication between console players. If they do take console players into consideration, I fear it might end up even more casual than WoW is nowadays :S

I believe there will be a lot of casual players will be picking the race based on looks. Here on this forum most players seems to be min-maxers, but I think we are a minority.
