  • Are you ready, Playstation fans? It's almost time for the next generation of consoles! Sony officially announces the PlayStation 4.

About a month ago, Sony said that it had a big announcement to make on February 20th. Many people predicted that this would be the PS4's grand announcement; Sony was making quite a big deal out of the event. These predictions turned out to be correct, and as of today the PlayStation 4 is official!

While we do not have an official price or release date as of now, we do know it will be released around holiday 2013. Anonymous sources also say that the PlayStation 4 is currently planned for two SKUs priced at $429 and $529 respectively.

Initial Game Line-Up

There is already a small lineup of games that are planned to be released on PS4.

  • Deep Down (Capcom)
  • Destiny (Bungie)
  • Diablo 3 (Blizzard Entertainment)
  • Drive Club (Evolution Studios)
  • Final Fantasy--probably XIV, though we don't know for sure yet (Square Enix)
  • Infamous: Second Son (Sucker Punch)
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall (Guerrilla Games)
  • Knack (Studios Japan)
  • The Witness (Thekla, Inc)
  • Watch Dogs (Ubisoft Montreal)

Personally, I'm most excited for Infamous: Second Son. What about you?

There are many other games that have been rumored, such as a project by Bethesda and a game made with Square Enix's Luminous engine. These announcements are likely to come with time.

Many questions arise with this new generation. What will the future hold? What games are awaiting? Will Activision ever grow a heart? It looks like we'll just be waiting until this upcoming holiday season, when we officially enter the next generation!
