Queen Black Dragon, Diamond Jubilee and Clue Fest

Bigger is definitely better this week. It’s also hungrier and more likely to incinerate you! The Queen Black Dragon has arrived, after being announced at RuneFest last year, and she’s truly colossal. She is so gloriously, over-the-top huge, that we’ve had to zoom out the playing camera, just so you can keep track of all her attacks!

And boy does she attack. At a combat level of 2100, the Queen Black Dragon is the toughest single-way, single-player boss in RuneScape by quite some margin. She demands the greatest preparation, the keenest concentration and the most agile of reflexes. With that in mind, we recommend that you have a combat level of at least 120 before you attempt to take her on. You will also need a Summoning level of 60 to pass through the entrance to the Queen Black Dragon’s lair.

You might wonder why the Queen is so angry. Forced to sleep by dragonkin artefacts, she is using human souls to negate the artefacts’ magic. You’ll need to send her back to her slumber, which means weakening her and then re-activating those artefacts. But beware: she won’t take it lying down. The Queen has four combat stages, and each stage adds more frequent and more powerful attacks to her repertoire. Think you can survive grotworm swarms and fire waves? Then prepare for her crystal armour and time-stop magic! By the final stages you will have gone from being on your toes to being on your toenails.

Defeat the Queen and her riches are yours. A Barrows-style treasure chest appears, filled with bolts, combat items and dragonkin lore, as well as some items unique to this update. Perhaps the most anticipated is the dragon kiteshield. It requires a Defence level of 60 to wield, and looks spectacular with a dragon head motif on the front. If you’re particularly lucky, you might get your hands on some coral crossbow upgrades, which can be collectively forged into the Royal Crossbow: one of the most impactful ranged weapons in the game, particularly in long, protracted battles. To forge the Royal Crossbow, you’ll need a Smithing level of 70 and a Ranged level of 85 to wield it. Royal bolts can be gained from mid and high-level grotworms and the Queen Black Dragon’s treasure chest. Finally, royal dragonhides have been added to the drop tables of the mid and high-level grotworms, as well as the Queen Black Dragon. These new hides can be made into tradable ranged armour if you have a Crafting level of 87 or more, and can be worn if you have level 80 Ranged.

How to start fighting the Queen Black Dragon:

[*]Enter the grotworm caverns north-east of Rimmington.
[*]A shortcut to the QBD lair is inside the Grotworm Caves, near its entrance
Requirements:

        [*]Level 60 Summoning
[*]It is recommended that you have a combat level of at least 120 to fight the Queen
[*]You do not need to complete Song from the Depths, but doing so gives you a damage reduction against the Queen Black Dragon
TC - What's your name?
Mstr - Paul, but I go by Fake Paul.

TC - Paul, you were a big part of TRR history, what brought you back?
Mstr - I decided to play RuneScape again. Plus, this is easily the greatest community in RS I've ever been a part of and maybe even without that qualifier. There are so many interesting individuals and characters in TRR, and plus I just feel home here. I want more stories to look back on when I'm old and still... playing RuneScape.

TC - What do you like to do in RS mostly?
Mstr - At this point, I mostly PvM and slay. I also do some skilling on the side, mostly AFK, and my short-term goal is all skills 80+.

TC - What is your favorite item in-game?
Mstr - Chaotic rapier, not even close. Claws are cool too. If I could have any item that I don't right now, it would probably be a Divine Spirit Shield, those things look cool as anything.

TC - If you had to choose a city in RS to reside for the rest of your virtual life, which would it be?
Mstr - Varrock, because of close access to the GE and the number of bars, plus the slums are neat. If there was a second, I'd go with a Dwarf city so I could laugh at how short and ugly they are.

TC - What do you think about the Squeal of Fortune?
Mstr - Honestly not that opposed to it. I don't like the way this game is going with microtransactions, but the Squeal itself helped me get 96 Summoning (contributed AT LEAST 170k summon xp), so I can't be too mad at it.

TC When you're not playing RS, what do you like to do?
Mstr I love baseball. This year, I was the ace and captain of my high school varsity team and I hope to play D-III ball next year. I also love reading and music - some of my favorite books are Catch-22 and Freakonomics and some of my favorite musicians are The Beach Boys, Radiohead, and Slowdive. I also play guitar. I once covered Hey There Delilah, it was horrible.

TC - Would you rather swim with sharks or walk through a 10x10ft snake pit?
Mstr - Sharks. They're far less aggressive. Depends on the kind of snake, though, some of them are totally harmless.

                              TC - Worst fear?
Mstr - Blexun leaves TRR for my mom

TC - Do you know the muffin man?
                              Mstr - No

TC - Anything else you would like to say to the members of TRR?
                              Mstr - Stay classy!

Yak "Ah, a fine day princess. We should be able to make it to the next town by mid-day" Jamie "Ugh, do you really wanna lose your head that bad Yak? You already kept me up all night last night with your snoring. Call me princess again and I might let it slide." Yak "Oh come on, I already said I was sorry, could you atleast try to cheer up a little, oh a purple flow-ahhh" Yak was now dangling in the air, caught in what seemed to be a net big enough to hold a horse. A yellow dust fills the air. As it seems the net was covered in it. Jamie "Oh actually I do feel so much better now." Yak "Get Me Down!" Jamie, with a grin "Hmm I don't know, I'm feeling pretty tired, I think I might take a nap, I did barely get any sleep last night." Before Yak could utter a remark, he loses all his energy and nods off. Jamie soon follows, but as she is about to collapse something catches her. She can barely make out a figure as her eyelids become to heavy to keep up.

Hours later Jamie begins to regain consciousness, she instinctively reaches for a blade she had strapped to her back, but finds its missing. A smell and sound of a person preparing a meal fills her sences. As her vision returns she takes in her surroundings. A modest and semi cluttered wooden cabin, walls draped with pelts of large game, plants hanging by windows. Cautiously she rises from the hammock she was lying in. Stealthily she reaches a table in the corner and finds her blade. She then peers out of the room and sees a woman humming a tune. Jamie quickly sheathes her blade and calls out to the woman.

Jamie "Hello miss, might I ask you as to where it is I am?" The woman wearing a brown dress and a tan blouse was startled by the sudden break of her peaceful humming. Woman "Oh good, you've finally woken up.I was worried since you already had bags under your eyes before you breathed in some of the powder." Jamie "Yes about that, could you explain to me what happened?" Woman "Well sit down and have some stew first, your stomach was growling for hours." Jamie "Ah I apologize for that, and thank you for your hospitality." Woman " Well It seems your friend stepped in one of my traps. You must not be from around here, seeing as everyone here knows I mark my traps with a purple lotus. The pollen from it works as a strong sleeping powder that can knock out a large boar for hours. You only breathed in a little bit but your friend took a large dose and will be passed out for atleast another day considering his size."

Jamie and the Woman continue their conversation as Jamie happily accepts the meal. After introducing herself Jamie finds out the woman is called Tc and she lives alone. Yak is heard loudly snoring in the background.

Meanwhile many miles away the shadowy figure lurks unseen as he trails another competitor for the crown. A small stream of blood flowing trickling down a hillside. A large creature covered in a slick black gunk covering mangy fur devours a corpse armoured in chain-mail and. Its snout housing crooked yellow teeth easily bites through the metal, its eyes a deep blood red, the claws on it are large and like the talons of a monstrous sized eagle. A little imp is then seen running towards a hooded man sitting on a fallen tree holding a small black jagged crystal. Imp "My lord Swaffle, it seems not even the so called SwordMaster of the people of the Iron Forrest is a match for your beast. With him your victoy is assured." Swaffle "Yes, yes, however it isn't good to put all our faith in it. Find me another one. This time one that doesn't smell so bad." Imp "Yes, my Lord." The little imp then skurries off. Swaffle "I know, your watching. Why not serve me?" The shadow figure ignores him, and then fades away.

                              To Be Continued..

I would like to welcome you into our clan. Congratulations on being accepted into The RuneScape Rebelz! Posted Image
____________

I. What's Required of You
____________

1. Forum Activity
As a member of TRR, it is your responsibility to periodically check up on the clan forums. This is important for many reasons, the least of which is so you can stay updated on clan news and important announcements. Many members choose to bookmark the forums - Forum Index - and simply check up on them quickly before or after logging into RuneScape. Posting on the forums is a necessary part of becoming involved with our clans community, and promotions are often based on how active clan members are on the forums.
____________

2. In-Game Communication
It might seem silly, I know; but you would be amazed at how many people join and then complain that they didn't ever know when an event was taking place. To prevent that and to get to know other members of the clan, staying active in our in-game friends AND clan chat is a must. Our clan chat is 'The Rebelz', and members are expected to be in it whenever they're on RuneScape. You are allowed to leave the chat in certain situations (e.g. checking up on a merchant chat, moving chats for an event, etc), but generally you should be in the clan chat while on RuneScape.
____________

3. Other Tips
Other great communication tools that can help your chances at a promotion greatly include IRC and Ventrilo. For information on clan channels, please click the 'Communication' drop-down menu in the news header. You can learn more about using IRC specifically in our guide.
____________

Quick Information
Clan Chat: The Rebelz
IRC Channel: #Rebelz

It's great to see you in TRR. We all look forward to getting to know you! If you want, you can introduce yourself to other members by posting an introduction.

RuneScape’s aglow this week as we introduce bonfires: a simple way to train your Firemaking skill, and perhaps make a few new friends while you’re at it.

You can now add to any fire that you or another player has created, using logs from your inventory. Not only does this mean that you no longer need to leave long lines of fires outside the bank, but you’ll benefit in a range of other ways that are sure to leave you feeling toasty warm.

Quicker and Easier Firemaking: Once you’ve begun the ‘add to’ action, you’ll continue to add logs to that fire automatically until the fire burns out or your inventory of logs runs empty. You can use any logs that you can normally light, and it doesn’t matter what sort of logs were used to start the fire. Fires made with higher level logs do last longer, though, so see if you can find a fire made with high-level logs. Fires are now coloured differently, depending on the log type used, and a right-click examine will tell you which is which, so it’s easy to tell them apart.

Gather Round for an XP Boost: Adding logs to a fire that others are already adding to earns a percentage bonus to Firemaking XP for all involved. This increases per person contributing, up to a maximum of 4% for 5 or more players. Not only is it better XP for everyone to gather round the same fire, but quicker and easier Firemaking means that it’s a great way to relax and chat with your fellow firemakers.

Attain a Hearty Glow: Contribute at least 5 logs to one fire in succession, and you’ll earn a temporary boost to your maximum life points; up to 10%, depending on your Firemaking level. This lasts longer depending on the type of logs you contributed; up to 60 minutes for magic or blisterwood logs. The effect stacks with other life point boosts, such as those from Saradomin brews.

Roasting on an Open Fire: Any cooking performed on player-made fires – either someone else’s or your own – will earn a 10% bonus to Cooking XP earned.

Free Fire Spirits: While adding logs to a bonfire, you may occasionally see a fire spirit emerge. They’ll be grateful to be freed from the constraints of log-based living, so click on these spirits when you see them to earn a reward, such as coins, runes, noted ore or a gnomish firelighter.

Greetings fellow TRR members! This is a brand-new section of the Newsletter aimed at bringing members of the community together by learning about a specific member every other week.
The special member we are interviewing this week is JubileeJones.

                      TC: What's your name?
Jub: -Jubilee. It's what my friends call me, and it makes a nice handle Posted Image

TC: Jubilee, You are going to be our first member featured in the Interview section of the newsletter, how does this make you feel?
Jub: -Nervous, and maybe a little hungry.

TC: What inspired you start playing Runescape?
Jub: -Honestly? It was middle school; I caught a glimpse of it over someone's shoulder, and a game you could play in the computer lab that had actual GRAPHICS? I was sold.

TC: Why did you choose TRR?
Jub: -Because it seemed like a laid-back clan with a good sense of community, but without too many rules and obligations.

TC: What do you like to do in RS mostly?
Jub: -Raise skills evenly or train slayer. I'm kinda OCD about not letting anything get too far ahead of the pack if I can help it >_>

TC: What is the most random item in your bank at this moment?
Jub: -Hmmmm. There's a lot of contenders for this one; I'm gonna have to go with "18 pairs of ice gloves". Yeah, no idea what I was thinking on that one either.

TC: When you're not playing RS, what do you like to do? Mind you, we do have youngins around, so keep it PG. ;]
Jub: -I read a lot. Most of it is pretty generic scifi/fantasy, though Posted Image

TC: If you were given 50 grand to spend on a vacation, and you had to spend every penny possible, where would you go and what would you buy?
Jub: -Japan. Go crazy in Shibuya, come home with a katana, a DDR machine, and every game I could find.

TC: Would you rather own a talking skunk or a dancing ferret?
Jub: -That depends; is the skunk well-trained? Or well-mannered, come to think of it? I mean, just cause it talks doesn't mean you'll like what it has to say. A dancing ferret is a much safer bet, if that's all the info I get! Posted Image

                      TC: Worst fear?
Jub: -Spiders, probably. Man I hate those guys :/

TC: Anything else you would like to say to the members of TRR?
Jub: -I don't expect too many to read this Posted Image and if you are. . . GET BACK TO THE CITADEL, PEONS! Posted Image

TC: Thank you again for your input and participation!

                      "Athenia: The Empire Games"

                      By: Apollyon

                      Posted Image

Our story takes place in the empire of Athenia, It is a vast country ruled by a noble emperor. Its borders cover a tenth of all the lands of the world. The riches of the country come from the coal mines of its mountains and ports providing commerce from overseas. The people are content with their lives and live peacefully under the rule of their emperor Blexun. Alas the times of peace would not last as the noble Blexun suffers from a chronic illness that manifests it self in the form of hallucinations and dementia. In one such hallucination he believed himself to be a bird and jumped off of his veranda. He survived but just barely, in his weakened state he feared he could not do well to rule his country and gathered his many children. He instated that all his children must travel the world and find themselves a warrior they believed to be the strongest and return within a year, and the one to bring the strongest warrior shall inherit his throne. On that day his many children spread into the world like a plague in-search of the strongest warrior they could find. Some were just while others cruel and full of ill-intent.

Now we follow the journey of one of those children with her trusted companion, a young high elf, natural to the bow and adept at spell-craft. The elf is rather thin and meek looking and seems to have blood of dwarfs also running in his veins as he is only 4 feet tall. The princess herself is witty and kind, but brash and seems more suited to have been born a boy. She is of average height has short dark hair, she wears leather armour as she sold her golden armour to blend in easier and pass off as a commoner. She is by any standard quite easy on the eyes and can be very attractive, however her demeanor and dress fools most people if not paying attention into assume her to be a young lad. Elf "Princess, any idea of who you wish to be your champion?". Princess "I've told you before Yak, call me by name, and not yet, however I need someone capable and cunning, oh and not afraid of a little blood" Yak "Fine princess Jamie, might I suggest we head towards the Plateau of Gannar? There are many schools of combat there, and I'm sure that one of them can be of use to you." Jamie "Let's then, I trust your judgement Yak. Also call me princess again and I will slice your tongue out"

Back at the Royal Palace in the dimly lit bed chambers of emperor Blexun, a shadowy ethereal figure emerges from a dark corner. Shadow Figure "Blexun, tell me why not just appoint your eldest son as your heir and live out the remainder of your time in peace? Instead of dragging out your remaining life and having your children compete against each other in this petty game." Blexun "You know very well why, this was an idea you gave me." Shadow figure "Yes, yes, I know, through this competition you may see the judgement skills of your children, see who is willing to do what, and see how far they take it. The one to win must be able to form alliances and turn around and crush those who oppose him. Their choice of champion will also show what kind of company they are willing to keep, blah blah blah." Blexun "I thank you for this opportunity, however I fear I may pass away sooner with you around." Shadow figure "As you wish Blexun, you who trade the remainder of your life to remain sane and live to see the end of your little game to me, I will leave you be, for now." With a crooked smile on his face the Shadow figure vanishes back into the darkness. Grimacing Blexun goes into a fit of coughs, A guard rushes to his side from the corridors. "Sire are you alright? Do you need your medication sire? I heard you talking to yourself again." Blexun "No, just tell my servant to bring me some water." Guard "Right away sire." Outside the castle, the shadowy figure emerges from the darkness again and gazes at the crescent moon. Shadow figure"Now I wonder if this little game will end before the war begins?"
