#34808 What's your PC Specs?

Posted by Fergal on May 23, 2014 - 08:21 AM

Has anyone used mechanical keyboards with the Cherry MX style keys?

They are going to be by far the most common. And of those cherry keys, 4 are common. Others like the clears and greens aren't as common.

Blue - Tactile, clicky/loud. Best for typing, but not if you type during the night a lot or in an office where you annoy others.

Browns - Tactile, non-clicky. Out of these 4, best mix of gaming and typing. Feels great, not too loud.

Reds - Linear/non-tactile, non-clicky, really sensitive. Best for gaming, but ahh, I wouldn't personally ever go near them unless I was a professional gamer or something.

Blacks - Same as reds, but require a lot more force. Meh, these have their fans, but not an awful lot.

I have browns, love them. Of course they are almost as loud as blues if you bottom out your keys, but otherwise, pretty quiet and o-rings can solve noise problems. :P

Now where did this topic go to... Anyway, TS server sounds interesting, if controlled.

#32161 Predications of the most popular class?

Posted by Fergal on January 20, 2014 - 03:56 PM

It's think it's very subjective to what factions or race people favour, rather than a particular class - But that depends on the ratio of hardcore builds to role-playing/fun builds there is. From there, the most popular class comes from the most popular races - i.e: all the khajiit's will probably be Night-Blades, all the altmer will probably be sorcerers or whatever.

Personally, I'm liking the two above mentioned classes, just because I like the idea of sneaky around just as much as powerful magic abilities. Although I do feel there will be a strong melee base in general.

#31968 Does this site plan to offer a "build calculator"?

Posted by Fergal on January 16, 2014 - 02:15 PM

This would actually be pretty awesome. I don't imagine it would be extremely complicated to build either, just a bit confusing length/variable wise.

#31629 iBuyPower Steam Machine - $499

Posted by Fergal on January 06, 2014 - 02:49 PM

Article link. Announced at CES.

I think this is rather ridiculous, IF the specs and prices are correct.

So basically, you are spending the same as an Xbox One w/ kinnect.

You get Steam OS - so all those benefits of cheaper games, sales and such in a console experience with Steam Big Picture - alongside the ability to go to a Linux desktop (Debian based, which is good) and still get that PC experience. Yes, I'm aware consoles have browsers and such, but its just not the same as a PC desktop environment, especially with Linux, extremely flexible and awesomesauce. It's also possible to get those console exclusives working on PC, but that might take some know-how, and not sure about the difference in methods between Windows and Linux.

As for specs - doesn't mention exact CPU or how much ram (which I can only assume would be 8gb), besides that very similar to next gen consoles. On par, maybe a bit ahead of PS4, I think. Xbox One GPU is definitely behind.

So basically, yes, €100 more than PS4, but is just worth it. Can't build those PC specs for that price on your own without some serious skimping. And that ability to upgrade parts if that's your thing. Probably will be even more models.

As for the Steam controller, I don't really know much about it, not really interested. If it actually works well, it could be quite amazing to get that console feel of a controller with a mouses accuracy. (Or so they have said)

#30166 Outrageous COD: Ghosts System Requirements Announced

Posted by Fergal on October 24, 2013 - 03:09 PM

This has been confirmed by Activision.

Minimum System Requirements:

    [*]OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
    [*]CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
    [*]Memory: 6 GB RAM
    [*]Hard Disk Space: 40GB
[*]Video: Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better
    [*]Sound: DirectX compatible sound card
    [*]DirectX: DirectX 11

These alone are very high for min. specs - Considering a GT 8800 (released in what, like 2007?) will run Battlefield 4, known to be a very demanding game, which I can't say the same for Call of Duty, at least up until now.

    It gets better...

The recommended graphics card is a GTX 780. A fkn 780, you have to be kidding right? That's a $650 card, only released a few months ago. And that 40GB HDD space, people were complaining about BF4's 30gigs.

This can either mean they somehow stepped up their game an awful lot without even getting a new engine (yep, still the tweaked Quake engine), or it's just so poorly optimized that these are just the specs. Could of course be all a marketing scheme.

Tbh, I've seen it been used plenty enough for the posts that deserve a +1 or like. Which would be its actual purpose, not Facebook shit, liking every thing that pops up, lol.

#28093 Should we Remove Post Counts?

Posted by Fergal on June 24, 2013 - 03:29 PM

NO. If you do that, we become the noobs. Even if there is reputation, it isn't nearly as impressive, particularly mine, don't think I have much rep. :( (*Remembers old TRR rep of like -9,000,000 - Thanks to Paul xD*)

#27772 ESO Guilds

Posted by Fergal on June 01, 2013 - 06:18 AM

Well, on IGN, there's just the Dark Brotherhood, Fighters, Mages, and Thieves guild. Meh, I'm hoping there will be more, perhaps in DLC.

But on that note, what are you guys looking forward to the most? Always loved the Thieves guild in Skyrim myself.

#27664 Job Openings for Elder Souls Staff

Posted by Fergal on May 22, 2013 - 01:12 PM

I remember the good old days when people used to work hard for months to have a colored forum name. Can't give it away now. :(

Dug this up. Had to search for every .txt file on my old computer. Lol.

Back in 2010. Wow I talked so much shit.

1) What position(s) are you applying for?

I am applying for Council, but I will happily take Moderator.
2) Would you be willing to actively use IRC (If you don't already), and have you maintained activity in the clan chat and forums up to this point? Activity in all 3 is mandatory for most clan ranks.
I am in IRC for most of each day besides when I am not online, but I am online quiet a lot each day. My forum activity is pretty outstanding will an average of 10-15 posts a day at a minimum. My Clan Chat activeness isn't  great but it is still decent, because of my disadvantage of not being able to talk on my main account, I usually talk in our Clan Chat when I am advertising events, which I do in IRC too.
3) What is your opinion on how the clan is currently operating?
The clan is currently operating smoothly, besides the trolls in our Clan Chat and all the fighting. If more CC Mods were introduced then it could help or else give CC Mod to the people who are active in our Clan Chat a lot and know how to moderate maturely and kick at the right time/
4) If you would make any changes to the clan, what would they be?
I feel that making our Weekly Clan Wars Practises mandatory would be a good idea, so everyone can experience Clan Wars and prepare for Official Wars. Also if we get another Ventrilo server, it should be required for everyone to have Ventrilo for Official Wars, it is twice as fast to talk than type.
5) What qualifications do you have for this job, and why do you think you deserve it?
I have many qualifications which include, my activeness which is very high. I am an honest, straight forward person who wishes to make friends with everyone whether they have just joined TRR or if they are a long-term veteran. As Council or Moderator I would be willing to Moderate all three of forms of communication. I am also been a very successful Diplomat, and even though I am not a Event Coordinator I have broke the record of events in one week, wrote reflections and took pictures for the reflection along with advertising every event 30 minutes beforehand, and closed old topics when the event has past. This doesn't mean I will stop that if I get a higher rank in TRR.
I would also qualify in all these too....
* Answering questions from regular clan members
* Moderating the CC/IRC/Forums
* Being called in as an emergency ET/RT
* Changing the direction of the clan
* Leading the weekly clan wars
* Promoting activity in each of the 3 major forms of communication
* Being an active member
* Encouraging other clan members to apply for promotions
* Doing whatever the leaders tell you <3
6) What new ideas and innovations do you have for the clan?
Everything I mentioned in question 3 and 4 could be implanted used. But at the moment, I haven't really got any good ideas at the moment, but this is an idea anyway. We already have Moderators for our Clan Chat, I was thinking why not have Moderators in our IRC Channel, some things they could do would involve, voice'ing people and kicking people if necessary. There doesn't need to be a huge amount of IRC Mods but a few who are there often enough to be able to moderate and voice people for the most of each day when they can.
I hope that I can be given this position in TRR, if I do get this postition I will do my job right, Thanks for reading.
Good Luck to all :)

And I only got moderator because I was only 12. :'( (Pfft, got High Council before I left anyway!) Remember Jackwooton taking Council and going ape-shit in the IRC because he was so shocked, lmao.

#27381 Call of Duty: Ghosts?

Posted by Fergal on May 01, 2013 - 04:17 PM

Meh, I'm not holding my breath. Call of Duty has just been the same ol' CoD4 over the years. (Yet I still have played SO much because I've nothing better to be doing)

However, this year, there is said to be a proper new engine, which is well over-due. And a completely new story and setting - as in, nothing to do with Modern Warfare. (remembering that it's Infinity Ward's turn)

I think I might get it for Christmas if it looks any good, but not buying it before I play a bit. Not making the same mistake I made with BO2. BF4 will wreck it.

Here's a teaser, which is really has nothing to do with the game besides the title, lmao.

#26368 Age of Empires II Re-released in HD

Posted by Fergal on March 09, 2013 - 02:03 PM

Seriously, they call this HD? I'm not even a bit excited.

Yeah, still doesn't look amazing. But still an improvement, fairly wreckless are it is.

Not going to buy it, but I'll torrent it. Or else just play the normal version because I never cared about the detail of graphics in any game (maybe besides Elder Scrolls), was always just a bonus for me.
